Concert Quality Multi-Drone Didgeridoo
|
|
Crafted by Will Thoren

Just when you thought it was safe to say, "Yup, I play a didgeridoo", someone like Will comes along to see how low you can go! Uh, low as in drone, that is. Very low... unfathomable even. So this is a "Yeti" didge made from a storm felled cedar tree, with a beautiful and comfortable wood mouthpiece. It plays a normal drone in F#, but you can drop a whole octave below that to low F# on it! And get this, the first trumpet toot is F# as well. Watch the video below for a demo of this dynamic multi-drone didgeridoo being played.

This didge is customized for a new technique that Will, the Yeti himself, developed to play multiple drone notes. The basic technique involves dropping the fundamental drone or pitch of a didge an exact octave below what it normally is, whilst keeping the didgeridoo normal sized rather than 8 to 12 feet long. The concave mouthpiece conforms to your face for a perfect fit, and is slightly larger than most didge players are accustomed too, enabling better lip movement and control for advanced styles. Best of all, you can enjoy playing the normal drone whilst mastering the low drone!

What a ruggedly handsome didgeridoo this is, not to mention eco-friendly (being recycled from a storm felled tree). The bell or distal end is
very clear and open which increases volume, harmonics, and clarity of
tone. Solid, gorgeous
finish. Double resin coated inside
and out for enhanced sound quality,
luster and durability. Features a smooth and comfortable mouthpiece made of white oak and exotic hardwood that's been sanitized
with Didgeri-Clean (tea tree and lavender oil). This
didgeridoo is
waterproof, unaffected by hot or cold
weather conditions, and very easy
to care for, no worries. |
Soundwise: Concert quality sound. Will says, "All around great for learning and mastering the drop octave and the Multi Drone techniques. Its higher key makes it easier to find the drop octave and once found makes it easier to play fast rhythms on. The sound quality has a nice rooted depth to it which makes it feel like you're playing a lower key than you actually are. The harmonics and vocals are both very clear and tongue rolls can sound explosive. It has a very comfortable concave shaped oiled mouthpiece that has been coated 6 times with tung oil and citrus. Although the mouthpiece can be played from the side, it is best suited for front of the mouth players, or those willing to make the switch to learn the multi drone."
Perfect backpressure for its size
and pitch make the circular
breathing technique easeful.
Three easy horn tones, all warm
against the drone. Truly a fine, beautifully crafted instrument, and definitely one of a kind.
