Performance Quality Didgeridoo from Australia

Malcolm Strong (Larrakia aboriginal)

The red dot on the Australian map at left shows the region where this didgeridoo came from. Malcolm crafted this deadly didgeridoo around 2002 and it's been held in a private collection until now. Older didgeridoos are well sought after because the timber has had time to season, which can give a eucalyptus instrument a The unique bell end features an open cleft where the eucalyptus tree had split to grow a fork in the trunk. The BIG BELL is a full 7" at its widest.
Malcolm lives just outside of Darwin in Australia's Northern Territory.
He only makes didgeridoos during the dry months, and even then, only when
he feels like it. We miss having didges crafted by Malcolm on a regular
basis like we did several years ago, so grab this stick quickly while we've
got it. Truly
an awesome sounding and very unusual piece. This didgeridoo is crafted from naturally
termite hollowed eucalyptus. The bell or distal end is very clear and
open which increases volume, harmonics, and clarity of tone. A clear finish
protects the wood from the elements. Fitted with an
organic beeswax mouthpiece sanitized with Didgeri-Clean (tea tree and
lavender oil). The mouthpiece can easily be adjusted to fit you perfectly.
Instructions included, no worries. |
Soundwise: Performance quality sound with
a smoky, evocative acoustic. This
would be a perfect didgeridoo for
moderate to slow, meditative grooves, and it would be
exceptional for vibrational sound
therapy or sonic healing.
This instrument has a warm, ceremonial acoustic due to its yidaki-like shape and well seasoned timber. The bore is completely natural so there's myriad nooks and crannies for the soundwave to play off of. The sing-song harmonics are awesome
and very easy to manipulate. Also an excellent didgeridoo for playing in the traditional hard tongue style. It maintains very good compression
which makes the circular breathing technique easier.
Three easy horn tones, one warm
and two bright against the drone.
A great addition to your didgeridoo
quiver, or to get one started.
