"Mammoth Tusk"
Concert Quality Drop Drone Didgeridoo

Crafted by Will Thoren

This didge is customized for a new technique that Will, the Yeti himself, developed to play SUPER LOW drone notes. The basic technique involves dropping the fundamental drone or pitch of a didge an exact octave below what it normally is, whilst keeping the didgeridoo normal sized rather than 8 to 12 feet long. The concave mouthpiece conforms to your face for a perfect fit, and is slightly larger than most didge players are accustomed too, enabling better lip movement and control for advanced styles.

Will says, "This didgeridoo is an incredible instrument for those seeking deep vibrations. A rare instrument made of eucalyptus and built for low frequency, modern styles of playing. The regular drone on this instrument would feel very comfortable to a player familiar with the this range on non-drop octave didgeridoos, but the drop octave is the delicious main course. It’s an all around solid instrument for a skilled player looking for the natural low drone with that unnaturally low Drop Octave. The concave mouthpiece conforms to your face for a perfect fit and a comfortable, superior seal. This makes a larger mouthpiece easily manageable to provide the maximum amount of subtle lip control that is un attainable on flat small mouthpieces. This subtle lip control is what makes hitting lower drone frequencies possible. This didgeridoo has been balanced so that it’s concave mouth piece aligns perfectly with your mouth in a naturally held position. This type of mouthpiece is recommended for playing out of the front of the mouth to achieve the drop octave technique (for more on this see the video Side vs Front on www.wetdidgeridoo.com)."

What a handsome didgeridoo this is, not to mention eco-friendly (being recycled from a dead tree limb). The bell or distal end is
very clear and open which increases volume, harmonics, and clarity of
tone. Solid, gorgeous
finish. Double resin coated inside
and out for enhanced sound quality,
luster and durability. Buffed to a satin finish. Features a smooth and comfortable mouthpiece that's been sanitized
with Didgeri-Clean (tea tree and lavender oil). This
didgeridoo is
waterproof, unaffected by hot or cold
weather conditions, and very easy
to care for, no worries. |
Soundwise: Concert quality sound. Will says, "This is a wonderful low end recording/performing instrument for a serious soloist or musician. The drone is C# and the first trumpet is just flat of C# an octave above. When dropped to a low C# you have three levels of the same note in a row with a natural drop to the flat C# from the tuned drones. Its amazingly low frequencies are filled with subtle nuances that are available when played with delicate control. Delicate is a key word for this instrument because the sound seems to flow out in slow motion even when playing fast rhythms to a point where you always feel you have the time to influence a subtle variation with tongue and mouth movement. The Drop Octave on this Instrument feels like you're swimming through a thick pool of sound waves. I’ve never seen a eucalyptus built for modern playing that is this long before. The dense wood adds a lot to its sound quality through a microphone giving it a real solid projection. The harmonics are very clear like most hardwoods and the vocals have well balanced good projection." As always, L.A.Outback offers a 100% Satisfaction
