Mike Jackson
Live at L.A.Outback! Mike Jackson is arguably one of the most innovative and accomplished didgeridoo players in the world. His mastery of the instrument allows him to explore tone, texture and rhythm at speeds and in ways that are totally unique. To hear him play is to experience a connection to Australia's myriad untouched lands where the spirit and heart can still reside with a certain degree of peace. Mike is also an archeologist, and following his reception this evening he's presenting a digital slide show and talk about aboriginal rock art (more info).
During his 8:00 PM salon-style concert, Mike shares his love of wilderness and the indigenous people who once lived in these wild places through his music. He has a technical mastery of the instrument, which is second to none. Some of his pieces, especially the faster ones, will blow your socks off for they are so fast, yet perfectly structured, defying explanation or understanding. Even other didgeridoo players are at a loss as to how Mike plays the instrument with such precision. But didgeridoo playing isn't all about speed and Mike proves this with his masterful approach to harmony and melody which he explores using the Didjeribone, a variable pitch didgeridoo. By exploring overtones of the didgeridoo in a melodic and harmonious ways, Mike has composed profoundly beautiful, sensuous, and haunting soundscapes.
There will be an intermission between the digital slide show/talk and the concert. Australian wine, tea and light food fare will be served from the reception until the start of the concert. Enjoy great company, warm canyon breezes, a fascinating show of aboriginal rock art, and Mike's virtuoso didgeridoo riddims. This intimate program is limited to 20 people and will sell out quickly, so reserve your space now by calling us or Order Here.

Mike Jackson's
Advanced Playing Workshop
While MJ is here visiting and performing (see above) we will host his workshop for advanced didgeridoo playing techniques.
Mike's style is not for the chill out player, so be prepared to learn how to shred! To get the most out of this workshop you should have a firm grasp of the basic playing techniques, including circular breathing. Again, this is not a workshop for true beginners, but for those that are ready to discover the secrets of speed, structure, and articulation. Tjupurru Performing
Live in L.A. and N.Y.
Tjupurru is a proud descendant of the Djabera Djabera tribe of West Australia. Born in Papua New Guinea and settling in Cairns, Australia, Tjupurru began playing Didjeridu through a vacuum cleaner pipe in boarding school. His real love affair with the instrument came when he discovered the music of iconic Australian act Gondwanaland, and didj player Charlie McMahon in particular.
Tjupurru's live show is a must see, mixing culture and technology to serve up what he describes as 21st century Didjetronica. Here are the dates: April 24: KCRW 89.9 (L.A.) 11:00 AM
Guest on KCRW's world famous "Morning Becomes Eclectic" program hosted by Nic Harcourt. Listen live online! www.KCRW.com April 25: Temple Bar, Santa Monica, California

Upcoming
Performances Tjupurru plays a unique slide Didjeridu invented by Charlie McMahon, named "The Didjeribone" because it can slide through different notes and tones - a cross between a didj and a trombone. He picks up his sound through a device called the "Face Bass", a seismic sensor placed inside his mouth.
With the addition of sampling and electronic effects, Tjupurru has enabled himself to perform as a one man band creating live samples and looping them to create songs and soundscapes that crisscross musical genres.

Energy
Balancing with the Didgeridoo at L.A.Outback
45
minutes of energy balancing meditation concentrating
on your seven chakras with the harmonic sounds of the
didgeridoo. Facilitated by Pablo Cunqueiro. Hot tea
and water provided. Please bring a yoga mat or pillow,
or simply use one of our chairs. Pablo recently moved
to Los Angeles from Sydney, Australia (via Argentina).
He uses Sound Massage, Reiki and Meditation for therapeutic
treatments.
The
earthy, organic sounds of the Aboriginal Didgeridoo
and the vibrational healing properties of the Australian
Bush Flower Essences compliment his Reiki training that
he received on a pilgrimage to India. I want to
bring to the other side of the world the clear and unpolluted
energy and vibrations that exist in Australia, and what
better healing tools to do that than using the natural
resources of the land says Pablo. He is available
for private sessions and small groups, which you can
discuss with him after the meditation.
